Articles of Faith

New Life Outreach Church recognizes that it cannot, and does not desire to, bind the conscience of individuals in areas where Scripture is silent. Rather, each believer is to be lead in those areas by God, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible, and to ensure clarity using verse upon verse, precept upon precept. We believe this Statement of Beliefs to be an accurate summary of what Scripture teaches.
  • The Holy Bible – We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and infallible revelation of God to man and the authority of faith and conduct. NLO accepts the Bible as the revealed will of God, as the all-sufficient rule of faith and standard for daily living. NLO reserves the right to the interpretation of the Scriptures as it pertains to doctrine and theology. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • Sovereign God - The one true God has revealed Himself as the "I Am," the Creator and Redeemer of mankind. We believe God eternally exists in three persons called the Trinity which is comprised of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. (Isaiah 43:10,11; Genesis 1:1; Ephesians 4:5-6; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 John 5:7)
  • The Deity of Jesus Christ - The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God. He is true God and true man (God-man). (John 10:30; Matthew 1:18, 23; Revelation 1:8; Hebrews 1:3)
  • Holy Spirit - We believe that Holy Spirit is a Divine person equal with the Father, and the Son; the indweller of every believer whereby each is sealed unto the day of redemption. (2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 1:13) We believe that God gives spiritual, enabling gifts for service to all believers. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:11-16)
  • The Devil - We believe in the existence and operating power of a real personal being opposed to all righteousness; exalting himself against all that God is and has; the evil one called Satan, or the Devil. (John 8:44; 1 John 3:18)
  • Hell - We believe in a literal Hell, the place of eternal punishment for Satan, demons, and those never saved. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10; Revelation 21:8)
  • Heaven - We believe in a literal place called Heaven, where God’s immediate presence is manifested; where the angels are; and where the redeemed shall ultimately be; from which Christ descended and ascended again; where he makes intercession for the saints; and from where He shall come to judge the alive and the dead. (Acts 7:56; Philippians 1:23)
  • Man – We believe that God created mankind in his own image and in a state of innocence, but that through temptation, man willfully transgressed and became spiritually dead in trespasses and sins, whereby his posterity inherits a corrupt nature, being born in sin and under condemnation is separated from God. (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6; Ephesians 2:1-3; John 3:18; Romans 5:12-19)
  • Salvation - We believe that mankind's only hope of reconciliation to God is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We believe he willfully substituted himself as our sacrifice, which represented mankind as a whole. We believe he rose from the dead in his glorified body, ascended into Heaven as our High Priest and advocate. We believe that through the humbling of the heart and public confession of these truths from Scripture, one is immediately born again. Salvation is by faith through grace and demonstrated in repentance leading to a relationship with Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 7:24-25; John 3:3)
  • Regeneration - We believe that regeneration is a divine and instantaneous work of Holy Spirit whereby God imparts life to one dead in trespasses and sins. (Titus 3:5; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:23)
  • Security of the Believer - We believe in the security of the believer, by this we mean that once a person has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, the Christian is kept by the power of God and is thus secure in Christ. (John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Romans 8:35-39; 1 Peter 1:5) We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word and not to use their Christian liberty as an excuse for sin. (Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15; John 5:24)
  • The Church and Its Mission - We believe in the one true Church, the mystical body and bride of the Lord Jesus, into which believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the local church is an organization composed of regenerated, immersed believers instituted for the purpose of fellowship, worship, and service. Also in the matters of administration and policy; it is self-governing. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 1:2; Matthew 18:15,20) The Church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to carry out the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19; Luke 19:10) The Ministry – A divinely called and scripturally ordained minister has been provided by God to lead the church in evangelization, worship, building the body, and general leadership of the church. (Mark 16:15-20; John 4:23-24; Ephesians 4:11, 16)
  • Water Baptism - We believe in Christian baptism by emersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as being the Bible defined way of publicly declaring the believer’s faith in and identification with the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:20; Romans 6:3)
  • Ordinances of the Church - We believe in a unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the body and blood of Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. (Mark 16:16; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
  • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit - Given at Pentecost, we believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father available to all Christians. It was sent by Jesus after His Ascension to empower the Church to preach the gospel throughout the whole earth. In Scripture, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is accompanied by speaking in tongues (unknown prayer language)(Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-4; John 14:15-17)
  • Sanctification - The act of separation from that which is evil and continually dedicating oneself to God and that which is good, upright, and morally pure. (Romans 12:1, 2; 1 Peter 1:16; Hebrews 12:14)
  • Divine Healing - Is provided for today by the Scriptures and included in the atonement for our sins. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16)
  • The Blessed Hope and Second Coming - The resurrection and rapture of all Christians dead and alive to meet Christ in the air is the Blessed Hope. The Second Coming of Christ to Earth with His saints for a thousand-year reign. (Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:17, 30)
  • The Final Judgment - There will be a final judgment at which all men will be judged. (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20)
  • The New Heaven and Earth - All of God's children will reign forever in a new heaven and a new earth. (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21, 22)
  •  Marriage & Sexuality - We believe that God created and sanctioned marriage on his terms as a sacred covenant relationship that joins one God-created man and one God-created woman for the purposes of procreation, companionship, and dominion over creation. God himself established the marriage covenant with his own creation and created it to be the basic structure of human society. (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:7, 15-24; Romans 1:16-32; Mark 10:6-9; Eph. 5:22-28). Jesus advised those who are for congenital or psychological reasons unable to enter into marriage (i.e. between a man and a woman) to remain single and therefore celibate. (Matthew 19:4-12). Sexual intimacy is to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity is to be engaged in outside of marriage of a man and a woman. (Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 7:1-5.) Homosexuality and transvestitism is as sin. (Romans 1:25-27, I Corinthians 6:9-11, I Timothy 1:9-10; Deuteronomy 22:5).
  • Right to Life and Abortion - The Bible indicates that human life begins at conception (Job 31:15, Psalm 139:13-16). Adoption is a concept authored by God, for all Christian believers have been adopted into the family of God. (Galatians 4:5-7; Ephesians 5:1; Romans 8:15-17) By choosing to give birth to her baby rather than having an abortion, the birth mother spares the life of a child created in the image of God.
